Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our Web site. It is our desire and purpose to reach the hearts of people—to bring fresh hope, encouragement, and joy through biblical preaching and teaching. We are committed to communicating the truths of Scripture in a manner people will understand, so they may discover God's plan for their lives and provide an avenue for continued spiritual growth. Our prayer is that the ministries of First Baptist will meet a need in your life. You may also contact us by email or call our church office if you have any questions.

If you live in the Nashville area or plan to travel through Nashville, visit with us. You will be inspired by the practical preaching and choices of traditional or contemporary worship.

We hope this site will encourage you to walk more closely with Jesus Christ. If you are not a believer, we pray you will consider the truth about Jesus Christ and submit your life to Him. May you discover the joy, peace, and hope that is only available through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and may you discover eternal life through faith in Him.

Sunday is always a special day at First Baptist Church. Yesterday was no exception. The Lord really blessed us with His presence in a wonderful way. Attendance was up, the spirit of the people was good, and the Holy Spirit was powerful among us.

There were Sunday School class Super Bowl parties all over Sumner County last night. Whether your team won or lost I hope that you enjoyed the fellowship time with other folks. Joy and I were able to make it to four or five different parties. It was a good game and the Saints certainly deserved to win it. Both teams represented themselves well as America watched.

Speaking of America watching: how about the commercials? The flap over the Tim Tebow commercial was much ado about nothing. HOW could anyone find fault with that ad? Parents worry about their children. Families endure much to see their kids (and grandkids) grow to adulthood. Life is not easy. But, in the final analysis we should "Celebrate Life. Celebrate families." I just don't see how anyone can criticize that ad. I didn't see all of the commercials because I was doing a lot of driving between parties but I think my favorite one that I saw (other than the Tebow commercial) was the Brett Farve commercial. I like a person who can laugh at themselves and Brett has certainly been able to do that with all of his "I am retired. No, I am not!" of the past few years. Of course, in the final analysis he is laughing all the way to the bank!

Yesterday in the Living Room we sang this Chris Tomlin song. It's a good one!

He became sin Who knew no sin
That we might become His righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross

Love so amazing, Love so amazing

Jesus Messiah, Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners, the ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all

His body the bread, His blood the wine
Broken and poured out all for love
The whole earth trembled and the veil was torn

Love so amazing, Love so amazing

All I hope is in You, all I hope is in You
All the glory to You, God, the Light of the world

Jesus Messiah, Name above all names
Blessed Redeemer, Emmanuel
The rescue for sinners, the ransom from Heaven
Jesus Messiah, Lord of all

Here is a Word for the day:

"He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21)

And this one:

"You know that He was revealed so that He might take away sins and there is no sin in Him." (1 John 3:5)

Have a great Monday!
