Library

Location:
The Library is located in the Family Ministry Center (FMC) across from Fellowship Hall B where the Living Room service is held on Sunday. You can enter the Library from inside or outside the FMC. There is a sign indicating the Library entrance between the FMC entrance and the Chapel entrance.

Reading Programs:
Each year the First Baptist Library has the following two reading programs. Incentives are offered to encourage you to read Christian literature. Participants in previous programs have realized many benefits from joining.

The adult winter reading program, "A Reading Wonderland" was held in the spring of 2009. Check back later for information on the 2010 adult reading program.

The children's summer reading program is for children ages 2 through grade 12. Children read, memorize scripture, and receive prizes. Check back later for details for the 2010 reading program.

Reading Clubs:
During the school year the First Baptist Library has the following reading clubs that meet regularly:

Preschool Story Time is held every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Join us for stories, crafts, and songs.

The Ladies Christian Book Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. A different book is chosen each month for discussion.

Types of Materials:
The following are available in your church library:

  • over 100 DVDs
  • over 100 VHS tapes for all age groups
  • books on tape and books on CD
  • a wide selection of Christian fiction for all ages
  • nonfictional reading material (including Bible study helps and commentaries)
  • sermon archives
  • Sunday sermons on CD
  • a quiet place to study or prepare for teaching

To reserve or renew a book, you may email the librarian at library@fbchtn.org or call 615.822.6154 ext. 222.

Memorials:
Memorials are books that have been placed in the Library in memory of a loved one. You may choose to either purchase the book for the library, or you can donate money. If you donate money, an appropriate book will be purchased for you. A nice book plate is then placed in the front of the book with the name of the donor and the one in whose memory it was given. Flowers will wilt and die, but a book becomes a lasting memorial.
