Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our Web site. It is our desire and purpose to reach the hearts of people—to bring fresh hope, encouragement, and joy through biblical preaching and teaching. We are committed to communicating the truths of Scripture in a manner people will understand, so they may discover God's plan for their lives and provide an avenue for continued spiritual growth. Our prayer is that the ministries of First Baptist will meet a need in your life. You may also contact us by email or call our church office if you have any questions.

If you live in the Nashville area or plan to travel through Nashville, visit with us. You will be inspired by the practical preaching and choices of traditional or contemporary worship.

We hope this site will encourage you to walk more closely with Jesus Christ. If you are not a believer, we pray you will consider the truth about Jesus Christ and submit your life to Him. May you discover the joy, peace, and hope that is only available through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and may you discover eternal life through faith in Him.

Don’t forget to change your clocks Saturday for Daylight Savings Time. A lot of people prefer to do it right before they go to bed. I like to do it the first thing when I get up on Saturday morning. I would rather lose the hour during the daytime than during the night. Of course, I stay a little confused all day on Saturday…but I stay confused a lot of the time any way so what difference does that make?

The SEC men’s basketball tournament starts today in Nashville. Fans from all over the Southeastern Conference will be coming to town to cheer their team on to victory. They will come from Fayetteville, Gainesville, Columbia, Baton Rouge and all points in-between. Only one team will go home happy when it is all said and done (and my guess is that it will be a team wearing the colors of Kentucky blue). It should be a fun weekend. And, of course, that means that March Madness is just around the corner. If you like college basketball it is a fun time of the year.

I had several people e-mail me yesterday warning me not to let those ducks stay in the pool. I am told they are looking for a nesting area and that if I let them stay that I will have a flock of little ducklings before long. The truth is that I did not have a very good hunting season last year. Maybe that is the way to have a better season this year. I can raise my own crop!

Here is a Third Day song that has an incredible message:

Who is this King of Glory that pursues me with his love
And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words
My conscience, a reminder of forgiveness that I need
Who is this King of Glory who offers it to me

Who is this King of angels, O blessed Prince of Peace
Revealing things of Heaven and all its mysteries
My spirit¹s ever longing for His grace in which to stand
Who's this King of glory, Son of God and son of man

His name is Jesus, precious Jesus
The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart
The King of glory

Who is this King of Glory with strength and majesty
And wisdom beyond measure, the gracious King of kings
the Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things
Who is this King of Glory, He's everything to me

The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things
He is the King of glory, He's everything to me

Here is what the Word says:

Lift up your heads, O you gates, be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty – He is the King of glory!” (Psalm 24:7-10)

He pursues us. He offers his forgiveness to us. He is the King of Glory. His name is Jesus. That’s good stuff!

Have a great Thursday!
