A.D.O.P.T. (Adoptions of His Perfect Timing) Ministry

"Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise and glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved." Ephesians 1:5-6 (KJV)

Mission Statement: To provide families a Christ-centered environment to fellowship, support, and spread the blessing of adoption.

Objectives:

  • Embrace and teach our own adoption into God's family through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
  • Provide a support system and means of education to families who have, are in the process of, or interested in adoption.
  • Encourage families to consider adoption as a means of increasing their family as well as provide a viable alternative to abortion.
  • Encourage the church body to support through prayer the ministry of adoption, families who are adopting, and orphaned children throughout the world.

Meeting times for A.D.O.P.T. Ministry: Meet quarterly on Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:15 p.m. in room 2231 of the Weekley Building.

Family Dedications

Psalm 127 tells us that "Children are a gift from God." In fact it says that they are a reward from Him. Family Dedication ceremonies are a special time for families at First Baptist. They allow us the opportunity to celebrate with these families, their new arrivals and additons to their families.

Also, we are inviting these parents to publically commit their families to the Lord, to raise them in a Christian home, and as it says in Ephesians 6:4, "to bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord."

Family Dedication ceremonies are also a reminder to our church family of the role we play in the lives of these families. The church recognizes that parents and their immediate family are the primary spiritual teachers for these children, but we also have an important role. We want these parents to know that we will pray for them, encourage them, and support them.

Family Dedications with our pastor, Dr. Bruce Chesser, are scheduled for 2010 on October 24 in either the 9:45 or 11:00 worship services. For additional information or to participate, please contact Lisa Bates at 447.1382 or lbates@fbchtn.org.
